Vanochtend krabbelen de kinderen lekker over het natuurijs. We hebben een stil vennetje opgezocht. Het is niet het mooiste ijs. Maar dik genoeg en heerlijk rustig. Ideaal voor beginnende schaatsers.
Ice-skating is so much fun.
This morning the kids clumsily skate on natural ice. We find this quiet pool. It isn’t the prettiest ice. But thick enough and very quiet. Perfect for beginners.

Waaghals Jochem schaatst zo weg. Natuurlijk valt hij een paar keer flink. Maar dat hoort erbij. Je leert door vallen en opstaan. 
Dare devil Jochem puts on his skates and takes off. Ofcourse he falls a couple of times. But that’s the way we all learn. 
Voorzichtige Thijmen heeft een totaal andere aanpak. Maar natuurlijk helpt dat helemaal niks op het gladde ijs. Ook hij gaat herhaaldelijk onderuit :-)
Cautious Thijmen has a totally different approach. But being cautious on very slippery ice, doesn’t help you much. So he goes down too :-) 
Net als Na-aper Minke!
And so does Copycat Minke! 
Maar geen van drieen kan er mee zitten. Ze vinden het geweldig.
Na de lunch willen ze weer. Nu naar de super drukke vijver. De jongens zien veel vriendjes van school en vinden het te gek.
Het wordt warmer. De conditie van het ijs verslechterd. Jammer. Laatste dag dat we van deze ‘vorstelijke’ pret kunnen genieten.
It doesn’t bother any of them. They’re loving it.
After lunch they want to go again. Now we go to the very crowded pond. The boys see lots of friends from school and are having a blast.
It’s warming up. Ice conditions are getting worse. Too bad. The last day we can enjoy this frosty fun.
