Labyrint

Vriendin E kent als geboren en getogen Brabantse de omgeving hier op haar broekzak. Erg handig voor mij als totaal onwetende ‘import Brabander’ . Voor vandaag heeft ze een perfect idee om de vakantie af te sluiten. We laten ons graag verrassen, dus volgen haar (en gezin) nieuwsgierig naar Prinsenbeek.

De kids zijn helemaal enthousiast, want we gaan onze weg in een maisdoolhof zoeken. Dat hebben ze nog nooit eerder gedaan en de mensen van het ‘Hof van Overveld’ hebben er ook nog eens iets ontzettend speciaals van gemaakt.

Het is een speurtocht in een doolhof. We moeten 17 letters verzamelen in het doolhof en daar aan het eind van de tocht de juiste woorden mee puzzelen. Het thema is dit jaar zeeheld Michiel de Ruyter [die dit jaar zijn 400ste verjaardag viert], dus de echte slimmeriken onder ons, weten de oplossing al, voor ook maar voet in het doolhof te hebben gezet =) Maar dat mag de pret absoluut niet drukken.

We vermaken ons dik twee uur in het doolhof van ruim 3 hectare. Het is een knap lastig labyrint en de letters zijn goed verstopt. Als de lucht na 2 en een half uur behoorlijk donker boven ons wordt en het begint de donderen, trekken we toch maar de noodenvelop open, die ons de weg langs de gemiste bordjes richting uitgang wijst.

E wij hebben een topmiddag gehad. Kom maar op met je volgende plan =)

Number five, on the back is the letter

Friend E, a born and raised ‘Brabantse’ knows this area like the back of her hand. Very convenient for me as a total oblivious ‘immigrant Brabander’. For today she came up with this perfect way to end our summer vacation. We’re always in for a surprise, so curiously we join her (and family) to Prinsenbeek.

The kids are all excited, we’re going to find our way through a maze. They’ve never done that before and the staff of ‘Hof van Overveld’ went overboard to make this something special.

It’s like a scavenger hunt through the maze. We have to find 17 letters in total and puzzle these to make the right words. This year’s theme is Dutch naval hero Michiel de Ruyter [celebrating his 400th birthday this year], so the real smarty pants in our group already know the answer before having set foot in the maze =) But that doesn’t spoil the fun.

We’re still spending over two hours in the 7,5 acre cornfield. It’s a pretty challenging labyrinth and they’ve hidden the letters well. When after 2 and a half hours the clouds are getting darker and we can hear thunder in the distance, we decide it’s time to open the emergency envelop. The map tells us the spot of the last three missing letters and the way to the exit.
