We’re all feeling a bit blue today.
Oldest cousin O teaches J the ropes of Catan
M loves playing with youngest cousin baby B
Cousins M and O are playing risk with J and T
Boys in the woods: J, T and cousin R
I had planned to keep my weblog going over the weekend. But R ‘forgot’ to bring the laptop to our family get-together. He didn’t think I would have the time... And he was right [ofcourse ;)].
Minke enjoying the view.
Thijmen catching this huge frisbee thing.
At times it's nice pictures are silent ;). J and T were having this huge fight while trying to go straight in the canoe. A hard thing to do, so they've found out =)
Participating in some campsite activities. J is aiming for the bulls eye.
T biting his lip in concentration.
Life is tough (when skipping naps) =)
Noodles, noodles and more noodles
The girls enjoying yummie Italian icecream.
Baby chick amazes me, just like her brothers and daddy she likes fresh coconut too.
Little princess being tugged through the water by big bro.
Thijmen trying to make his own waves.
Sometimes after smelling or tasting something you get these flashbacks. The other day I was eating this oldfashioned candy, shaped like a peardrop (didn’t even know they existed anymore) and ‘poof’ I went back in time to the house I was born in and lived the first six years of my life. For me this flavor is simply attached to the memories of those days (some thirty years ago).
Today I'm having another flashback. Happy memories come back to me, not through smell or taste, but through these enormous downpours. We all know (unfortunately) how often it can rain in The Netherlands. But usually these rainfalls aren’t very heavy. By far not as heavy as the Alabama thunderstorms. We got our first introduction to this phenomenon on the day of our arrival and boy we were flabbergasted. Within 5 minutes the roads were flooded and drainage pipes couldn’t handle the amount of water either. Windshield wipers couldn’t move fast enough to give a good vision, so the only thing to do was pull over, stop and just wait it out.
As of tonight we’re having these tremendous thunderstorms here too. A few places in town are flooded. And in the underground garage of friends a few blocks down from us, you can go for a swim (hope that new pump is really doing the job this time around E!). The rain doesn’t bother us. Maybe Jester a bit, since he’s not getting the usual amount of walks today. On the contrary, I just look out the window with a huge smile on my face. Enjoying this ‘Alabama rain’ moment.
What’s that in your hair dude?
Minke?
What in the world are you doing?
MINKE!
As I look past the dirty foot around the corner.
MINKE MEGHAN!!!!
OMG flour, oatmeal, sugar, chocolate sprinkels, fruit sprinkles. Everything she could get her little hands on, is on my kitchen floor.
She wanted to bake me some cookies! Isn't that sweet...
It's not crooked IRL, the scanner is to blame ;)
Every day I try to persuade my kids to clean up their rooms.
I have to admit though, mommy doesn’t set the best example. Cleaning up isn’t one of my virtues. But I do have my limits.
When things are really getting out of hand, I will take it upon me to sort out the chaos.
Today I have one of my cleaning up attacks. Our mutual multi functional desk is a total mess. It’s simply begging for a good cleaning.
Once I am working my way through it all, I get distracted by all sorts of things. Like these Pixum and Kodak Gallery picture envelopes.
When I look to see what kind of pictures are in it, I find this funny 5 x 7 picture of our luggage last summer. This one needs to be scrapped and preferable today…no I did finish my chores first, duh!
I had to, since I’m also scrapping at this multi functional desk =)
